Beautiful Journey

I have a friend who is, let's just say, on a journey. A beautiful journey (I am sure he would disagree with me) I think it's beautiful. I think he is going to be given a gift at the end of this journey that most of us will never fully comprehend. I had to share something he wrote. He is very talented and I hope you enjoy:

This is Chapter 1. This is where I'm at.

Prodigal...I'm sure that's what you call me
And you are telling the truth
Lost my soul...when this world bought me
Leaving me cheapened and fooled
Where do you run to
When there's no one waiting?
Who do you cry to
When no one's listening?
I wish I hadn't found this out the hard way
'Cause it's gonna take awhile before I'm even ready
Yeah, it's gonna be awhile before I take that first step
I guess I just need to know You're still looking for me
That You still miss me and You're willing to wait for me
Hollowed out...and feeling so unstable
From reaping all I've sown
Swallowed whole...and knowing I'm unable
To be the same I was before
There's nowhere to hide when you're so transparent
There's nowhere to go unless you come home again
I wish I hadn't run in the first place
It's gonna take awhile but I'm almost ready
Yeah, it's gonna be awhile before I take that first step
I guess I just need to know You're still looking for me
That You still miss me and You're willing to wait for me

I've tried it all and failed miserably
And I've seen too much to ever forget
I've acted out on all my wildest fantasies
But what am I left with?

It's gonna take awhile but I'm packed and ready
Yeah, it's gonna be awhile but I'm tying up my shoes
I guess I just need to know You're still looking for me
That you still miss me and You're willing to wait for me

Beauty...not more beautiful than Him.

My Aunt Betty went to be with the Lord on Saturday. She, I am sure, saw a lot of beauty in her life. But now she knows, nothing will ever be as Beautiful as Jesus. Posted by Picasa

Our Legacy

What are we leaving for our kids? What will they say drove our hearts? Was it praise of men, or serving our neighbor? Was it a bigger house, or giving shelter to those in need? Is it the trendiest clothes or giving to the poor?
I am not working for my salvation. I am not trying to "please" the Father. My debt was paid by the Savior on a cross over 2,000 years ago. And it's my faith alone in him that redeems me. But as time marches on, quite quickly these days, and as I say goodbye to more and more loved ones as they cross over to eternity...I have to say. What am I driven by and what do I live for?
Will our kids go through our drawers one day and find old paid bills or a pile of thank you cards? I am saddened by so many who when asked to serve or help..."don't have the time." And I know, because I was like that once.

This is my challenge to myself...what will my kids remember of me? Will they love community and service? Or will they seek after abundance and entertainment?

Oh the heart of a servant. That is what I want to leave for my girls.

First Day at School

It does not seem like Elizabeth should be in school...how did this happen so fast. Aftern I picked her up today, she said her favorite part was being a line leader...that's my girl! Posted by Picasa
